About Us

Class Dismissed is an afterschool literacy non-profit, non-government organization led by student volunteers. We provide inclusive reading support, accessible educational materials, and interactive learning tools. Our goal is to make literacy a shared experience. We ensure learning doesn't end after class is dismissed, and we dismiss class barriers that divide our education system.

Vision & Mission

Vision

We envision a society where learning is not bound by classroom walls or socioeconomic circumstances. Class Dismissed seeks to empower every learner to read the world as clearly as they read a book: to critically question, imagine, and write with confidence. Our vision is a Philippines where education is a shared right, not a private privilege, where the joy of reading opens paths to dignity, awareness, and solidarity among all.

We believe that every child deserves to be both a thinker and a dreamer; that true literacy begins when the learner sees themselves in what they read, and sees the world as something they can change.

Mission

Our mission is to create free and nurturing spaces where learning continues long after class is dismissed. Through free afterschool tutoring sessions, writing workshops, and community partnerships, we help children from public schools and working-class areas grow in confidence and critical understanding.

Class Dismissed promotes literacy as a means of liberation, transforming reading into a collective act of empowerment. We aim to equip learners not just with skills, but with the courage to challenge unjust systems, the clarity to critically understand, and the compassion to uplift others. When education becomes a shared effort, knowledge ceases to be a tool of privilege: it becomes a bridge to equity.
